Abu Dhabi-backed ePointZero completed a $2.25 billion all-cash acquisition of Traverse Midstream Partners, marking the firm's debut in United States natural gas infrastructure. The deal, closed on July 14, secured a 35 percent interest in Rover Pipeline and a 25 percent interest in Ohio River System. Both assets rely on long-term contracted cash flows rather than volatile spot pricing.

Spanning hundreds of miles across the Midwest, Rover Pipeline carries Appalachian natural gas to major demand markets, linking production regions to consumers. Ohio River System extends that geographic reach further. Together, the two holdings give ePointZero its first foothold in domestic energy infrastructure, positioning the firm as a new entrant in America's midstream sector.

Parent company 2PointZero Group, based in Abu Dhabi, has built a diversified portfolio across energy and infrastructure over several years. Mariam Almheiri, the group's vice chair and managing director, framed the acquisition in terms of long-term positioning. "At 2PointZero, we believe in building businesses with the ambition and resilience to create value over the long term," she said.

For U.S. energy markets, the transaction points to continued interest from international capital in contracted infrastructure. Midstream operators typically generate steady, predictable revenue, a quality that appeals to investors seeking stability amid broader market swings. Analysts have noted that such assets often attract long-horizon buyers precisely because their returns are less exposed to commodity price shifts than production or exploration ventures.

Whether the deal signals a broader wave of foreign investment in American gas infrastructure remains to be seen. Still, the transaction suggests that international buyers view U.S. pipeline assets as a durable hedge within diversified portfolios. The results could shape how other sovereign-backed investors approach American energy infrastructure in the years ahead.
