Krohne rolled out PipePatrol NEO on August 12, 2026. The AI-driven pipeline monitoring system can pinpoint a leak within 30 seconds across a 31-kilometer stretch of pipe, a claim that would have sounded far-fetched a decade ago.

Built on what Krohne calls its Neural Engine Pipeline Monitoring technology, the platform runs up to four times faster than conventional leak detection tools. That speed matters most in the moments right after a breach, when every second determines how much product escapes and how far the damage spreads.

The system blends AI pattern recognition with hydraulic modeling, pulling in real-time flow, pressure and temperature data to catch leaks, theft and equipment failures at once. Its location accuracy runs to within 0.6 percent, sharp enough to cut the time crews spend hunting for a fault. Less searching means less disruption for the surrounding pipeline route and whatever community sits near it.

PipePatrol NEO covers oil, gas, water, district heating and hydrogen lines, which makes it one of the more flexible monitoring tools on the market today. Utilities running very different infrastructure can plug into the same platform rather than juggling separate systems for each fuel or fluid type.

Retrofitting gives the launch real commercial teeth. Operators can bolt PipePatrol NEO onto existing SCADA systems without ripping out field infrastructure, so the upgrade doesn't torch prior capital spending. That compatibility lowers the barrier for utilities still running older monitoring networks, and it widens the pool of companies who might actually buy in.

Faster detection tends to pay for itself. Operators lose less product, face less environmental liability and have an easier time meeting regulatory standards, while customers on district heating or water networks see shorter outages when something does go wrong. Repair crews, armed with tighter location data, can move straight to the fault instead of guessing along the route.

Hydrogen coverage puts Krohne ahead of a curve that's only getting steeper. As Europe and other regions push hydrogen infrastructure further into the mainstream, demand for monitoring tools built for that fuel will likely follow. PipePatrol NEO lands right as that shift picks up speed, giving Krohne a foothold in a market still taking shape.
